Caries Diagnosis, Risk Assessment, and Management Protocols

This website describes protocols for caries diagnosis, risk assessment and management. The protocols were developed based upon current scientific evidence and input from faculty members of the Department of Cariology, Restorative Sciences, and Endodontics.

The protocols also conform with the Consensus Statements of the NIH Consensus Conference on Caries Diagnosis and Management Throughout Life, March 26-28, 2001.

The NIH Consensus Panel reached the following conclusions after reviewing the current evidence on caries diagnosis and management.
