(kretek) cigarettes:
Clove (kretek) cigarettes are different than traditional tobacco cigarettes in that they contain the clove bud, which produces an anesthetic effect on the back of the throat when smoked. This numbness impairs the gag reflex and increases the risk of clove cigarette smokers to inhale foreign materials into their lungs. Clove cigarettes can lead to pneumonia, bronchitis, and lung abscesses as well as having similar dangers as traditional cigarettes. |
